Rugby League International Federation Chairman to speak to Parliamentary Rugby League Group
On Tuesday 29 October, just three days after the opening ceremony of the 2013 Rugby League World Cup, RLIF Chairman Scott Carter will be speaking to the UK’s Parliamentary Rugby League Group about the tournament and the international game.
The Parliamentary Rugby League Group meets once a month and is normally open to all Members of Parliament as well as individuals and organisations from outside Parliament. However, given the interest in hearing Carter speak, an open invitation has been sent to Members of Parliamentary Groups representing rugby league playing nations in the Federation and outside.
The Group’s Chairman, Leeds North West MP Greg Mulholland, said: “we’re delighted that Scott can speak to the Group. Our sole remit is to support rugby league wherever possible. Whilst that is predominately focused to the UK, we regularly take on international issues and have several ongoing issues as we speak. We are very grateful to Scott and RLWC13 who re-arranged his busy schedule to come to our meeting. We are looking forward to hearing what he has to say.
Carter said “The UK’s Parliamentary Rugby League Group is well known as a strong voice for the sport in Britain and beyond. I am very pleased to have the chance during RLWC13 to speak to what is a very powerful supporters group.”
