Leeds Rhinos Join Parliamentary Rugby League Group
2014 Challenge Cup Winners Leeds Rhinos have joined the Parliamentary Rugby League Group.
Rhinos have become an Associate Member of the Group and join clubs such as fellow Super League side Wigan Warriors, Championship club Batley Bulldogs, Championship One side Oxford RL and community clubs such as Brentwood Eels.
The Parliamentary Rugby League Group, is open to any organisation or individual who shares the Group’s sole remit “to support the sport of rugby league football”. The Group meets monthly when the House of Commons is sitting, raises issues within Parliament and across Government, and hears from speakers within the game.
The Group’s Chairman is Greg Mulholland. His Leeds North West constituency includes the Rhinos as his constituents. Welcoming the club he said “I am personally delighted that Leeds Rhinos have joined the Parliamentary Rugby League Group. The Group welcomes everyone and the more people, clubs and organisations involved the more we can do. To have another Super League club join is great for us and we look forward to welcoming them to meetings in Parliament.”
Leeds’ Chief Executive Gary Hetherington said “The Parliamentary Rugby League Group has worked very hard for the sport over many years and we’re very pleased to be joining. We know just how active the Group is and we look forward to having an input.”
