Hunslet Hawks join Parliamentary Rugby League Group
The Parliamentary Rugby League Group has welcomed Hunslet Hawks as an Associate Member.
The Hawks play in the Championship, and join clubs from all levels, as well as other organisations and individuals who share the Group’s singular remit to “support the sport of rugby league football”.
Joining as an Associate Member, the club may attend the Group’s monthly open meetings in the palace of Westminster, as well as its Annual Dinner in the House of Lords Terrace.
The announcement was made by Club Patron and MP for Leeds Central, Hilary Benn. He said “I have been patron of the Hawks for over three years, and am thrilled that the club has joined the Parliamentary Rugby League Group. The club has done some excellent work in the South Leeds community in recent years, and I am sure that they will find their Associate Membership useful as they look to build on this.”
The Group’s Chairman, Leeds North West MP Greg Mulholland, welcomed Hunslet. “I’m delighted that Hunslet Hawks have decided to join the Parliamentary Rugby League Group. The Group continues to work hard to support the sport, and welcomes clubs from all levels. I look forward to meeting representatives from the club.”
Hawks Chairman, Neil Hampshire, commented “it is an honour to have joined the Parliamentary Rugby League Group as an Associate Member. The Group continues to play an important role in supporting the game in the UK, and we are looking forward to working with such a key organisation.”
