Danny Brough Honoured by Parliamentary Rugby League Group
The Parliamentary Rugby League Group has announced Huddersfield Giants’ Captain Danny Brough as its Super League player of 2013.
Each year, MPs and Peers in the Parliamentary Rugby League Group select the player they feel performed consistently at the highest level over the course of the preceding season and announce the winner near the start of the year.
The award was presented to Brough at the Giants’ first Super League home game of 2014 by Group Member Jason McCartney MP who represents Holme Valley, Colne Valley and Lindley. McCartney said “On behalf of the Group, and as a Giants fan, I am delighted to present Danny with this award recognising his hard work and skill over Super League 2013 and, in addition, the Rugby League World Cup as Captain of Scotland.”
Brough was top goal and forty-twenty kicker in the 2013 season, second in try assists and third in attacking kicks. Receiving the award he said “I’d like to thank the Parliamentary Rugby League Group for selecting me as the Super League player of 2013. It means a great deal to know there are fans of the sport in Parliament who are supporting the game.”
